If you were going away for a long time. This could be a trip into outerspace, or where ever and you will not be able to have the foods you love for a while....
What would be your send off meal? It could be anything, gourmet, not gourmet, what ever. I want to know what foods you would eat, paired with what beverages, deserts, appetizers, etc.

Re: Last Meal
Thu, September 8, 2005 - 7:57 PMhmmm.... something with my lover, I would want to share *smiles*...and all homemade foods...
basmati rice with toasted coconut and slivered almonds, mashed sweet potatoes and yams, baked carrots and baked beets with beet greens, a cashew butter sauce, to drink: chilled, sparkling pear juice and after dinner, chamomile/peppermint tea with steamed soy milk...baked cinnamon apples for dessert. mmmmmmmmmmmm..... or vanilla soy-delicious with sliced mango on top...
nothing fancy, just yummy food that always makes me feel cozy after... :) -

Re: Last Meal
Tue, September 27, 2005 - 10:07 PMA medium rare filet mignon
a raft of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and albacore sushi/sashimi
caesar salad
broiled salmon
thai yellow curry
my mom's butter crescent rolls with mom-made berry jam
dessert:
NY cheesecake with fresh strawberries
a double-shot 12 oz cafe mocha
I could make all of these myself except the first two, but these are the foods I crave and would sorely miss.
As for drinks, I would have the steak with a good California syrah, and all the others except the cheesecake with a good fresh hoppy IPA(don't make me choose just one of these, please) -

Re: Last Meal
Sun, October 30, 2005 - 3:12 PMthis actually happened to me, in a way. i moved to paraguay a year ago, and there are no thai, vietnamese, or indian resturants here in asuncion.
so when back in SF before leaving, i had my last meal:
indian oven chicken tikka masala
garlic naan
mango lassi
and i overate and savored and attempted to guard those flavors in my cheek as a squireel does acorns.
